Herman Melville's Walker Without a Cause

Five or six years ago, a new employee started working at my part-time job whose enigmatic impression on people drew intrigue. She had a great smile, she was nice to everyone, she had the coolest tattoos, she rarely spoke. Effortlessly, she earned all of our respect as the alpha wolf of cool. But she gave all indications that she was happy to just come to work, enjoy benevolent company and her paycheck, and go home. But the going home drew the most attention from all of us.

As for Me and Mine, We Will Speak of Haiti in Our Kivas.

Regardless of political beliefs, it seems that everyone can agree that the images of Haiti this month remind us of all we have here in America. With other catastrophes fresh in our minds this past decade (Hurricane Katrina, the Sumatra Tsunami, the Chinese Earthquakes), we have all wondered how we would react in a world without power, water, food, shelter. These basic necessities have vanished in moments for a variety of civilizations, right before our eyes—ALL of us have imagined how we would k… Continue

Hi Andrea,
I've been hearing so many good things about this networking group that I decided to join! I am with a brand new non-profit group in lincoln called "Think Green Consulting." Our mission is to show businesses and individuals how to "Think Green" in their everyday activities and at the same time save money. We have a FREE business after hours at our office on Nov 19th from 5:00-6:00pm and we welcome all members of the community to come check us out. I have posted our event but I am wondering if you might have any other suggestions to get everybody's attention. I appreciate your help!!! *Heather*

Hi Andrea. It was good to meet you this afternoon. You mentioned a sign up for bike commuters? Here on this site?

I will have to look into the geocaching info. My son thought that might be fun to do.

Hi Andrea,

North Platte TV is doing a story on Saturday as we put in our last bed for the garden. Share with Lincoln...permaculture is on the move!

We had a great event...9 High School students joined us on Friday to help put in the community garden. We had 17 participants, eleven of which want to do the full permaculture certification. (We ALMOST covered costs, too!)

No worries--I just joined it yesterday when I read your message.

And even more irony for you--guess who bought that last cultiva cup? That's right! And Re-Cycled can get those cup holders, too. They're an Electra product, around $18 if I remember correctly. But to be honest, they don't work as well as I had hoped--the cup can bounce around a little, and if it's very full, it'll spill on you while you're riding...

Hi Andrea -
Have you thought of getting a booth for Lincoln Green Scene at Earth Day?
I was thinking if you got a few people to volunteer at the booth with lap tops, people at Earth Day could stop by and set up a profile. Just a thought...
