This group is actually a portal website. Hence there are topic focused links to a number of "progressive" organizations here, Nebraska, national and international.

Green-coln, Nebraska USA has a new "Portal Website" now. It's coming along quickly with several pages dedicated to links to other progressive/green/sustainable/political organizations and leaders. Of course a "Portal Website" is a website that is meant to be a "door" (hence, the term "portal") to other on-topic websites.

So... If anybody has suggestions for more links or design considerations like how to start organizing the list better. Speak up! I'd love to hear from you.

Sincerely sustainable,

Elbert

The Independent Media Project, www.lunkradio.org, has evolved into a collective of anti-capitalists - the LUNk Collective. We will be working on a new website for the collective soon with off-shoot pages for our various projects. We have just opened our collective house: LUNk House which will serve as a hub for local activists, a broadcast site for our micro-power AM station and a radical lending library (infoshop). Our plans and projects include: hosting events and meetings for local progressive allies, movie showings galore, demonstrations/protests, punk rock shows, community gardening, skill share seminars, fund raisers, direct action, revolutionary mischief, debates, community forums. We also plan on teaming up with Food Not Bombs - Lincoln, and Salt Valley Free School to help with the projects that they have already started.

The LUNk Collective is a grass roots, decentralized, anti-hierarchical and directly democratic organization formed by individuals that want radical (fundamental, systemic) social change and work wholeheartedly toward this goal. This includes various anti-capitalists, anarchists, communists, revolutionaries, socialists, and similarly inclined people (that may choose all or none of these labels). Our goal is to advance past the command markets of capitalism, to voluntary exchange relationships based on community need and ethical production. We believe in actively replacing exploitative conditions and dependency with compassion and solidarity. In this way, we intend to dispel bigotry, alienation and apathy.

For more information check out: www.lunkradio.org or the "Conquering the Divide" forum (also found at www.lunkradio.org), the LUNk Collective on Facebook, or http://ayp.subvert.info/org_display.php?org=3407 for more details. LUNk House is located in Lincoln's North Bottoms at 1213 N. 12th Street (12th and Charleston). The phone number is: 402-817-4791.

Hello,

I am contacting you on behalf of Nebraskans for Peace and Justice to
see if your organization would be interested in setting up a booth at
this years Beyond War rally and march. The rally begins at the
west-side of the State Capitol (downtown Lincoln) at 12:30 pm on
Saturday, April 4th, 2009. This is also the anniversary of Martin
Luther King's assassination. The rally will be focusing on taking a
stand against the societal problems that King emphasized in his
"Beyond Vietnam" speech: militarism, racism, and social and economic
injustice. After the rally on the Capitol steps there will be a march
to the UNL student union. Please contact me if you are interested in
setting up a booth - tables will be provided by UNL Nebraskans for
Peace/Students for a Democratic Society.

Thanks,

Brian Ellis

LSH is currently organizing a prison book drive. We will be collecting
books to deliver to the Nebraska State Penitentiary in April. The
library at the penitentiary is very limited and mostly contains
donated religious books and magazines. We would like to see more
variety in the library so prisoners can have more reading choices and
so they are exposed to more ideas and different points of view. All
literature is welcome except literature about making weapons, picking
locks, etc., or books which contain a message of hate. We are
especially interested in books that are humanist themed or books that
present progressive views. If you would like to donate books for the
prison book drive please send the books along with a note designating
them for the prison book drive to 1867 SW 31st Street; Lincoln, NE;
68522. You may also bring the books to any of our weekly social
nights - every Friday at 7pm in the back room of the Coffee House
(1324 P Street, downtown Lincoln) or if you need help transporting
books feel free to contact me and I can pick them up.

Thank you for your support,

Brian Ellis

I am part of a local affinity group that is working on independent media for the community. Our main project - LUNk radio (www.lunkradio.org) would be of interest to most progressives. We are in the process of recording shows now and we are looking for content, so if you have an idea for a show bounce it off us! Our goal is to have a 24/7 webcast station along with a network of low-power AM (fcc part 15) broadcasting stations set up all over town...right now we are just doing podcasts. If you are interested contact us at contact@lunkradio.org.
